Calahonda is  relatively peaceful when compared to nearby Marbella, Puerto Banus, Rhonda, Mijas Pueblo, Malaga and Gibraltar. It is only approximately 30 minutes drive from Malaga International Airport so is an ideal holiday location and a modern community, with all the conveniences that you would expect of a quality tourist destination. 
There is La Luna beach, which is a smallish more private beach, or you could visit the port, Puerto Cabopino,  particularly pretty at night, and a great beach during the day, or maybe visit the 3 parks in the locality, or take the tourist train through the town and surrounding area.

Calahonda has two golf courses, one a nine hole par three, La Siesta Golf Club, and the other an 18 hole course, Cabopino Golf Club.
